This rice caused some cheering in our student apartment because it really is something special. The combination of cumin, turmeric, garlic and jasmine rice aaa. I could eat plain jasmine rice everyday anyway but with all this flavours – it makes it even more delicious. Most Of the spices are from Svilna pot .
For 4 people; Very simple; 40 minutes
Ingredients
2 spoonfuls of coconut oil
1 knife end of
cinnamon
1 teaspoon of
grounded cumin
1 teaspoon of
turmeric
3 cloves of garlic; minced
300 g
jasmine rice
1 cube of vegetable stock
500 ml water
Salt
2 bay leaves
Instructions
- In a bigger pot melt the coconut oil and add cinnamon, cumin, turmeric and garlic and saute for around 2 minutes (not for too long so it doesn’t burn).
- Add jasmine rice and saute for around 3 minutes. Cover with water mixed with vegetable stock. Add salt and bay leaves and cook covered for around 10 minutes or until almost all the liquid is gone.
- Set the pot aside and leave covered for 15 minutes more.
- Serve.

This dish is a wonderful side dish but if you saute also some pieces of vegetable it can become a main dish.
